A delegation from Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), led by Chairman Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik, participated in the 18th meeting of the Regional Consultative Committee (RCC) held in Bangkok, Thailand, on Thursday.

This two-day event is co-hosted by Thailand and the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) and aims to foster consultation and cooperation in reducing disaster and climate change risks across the Asia-Pacific region.

During the meeting, discussions focused on enhancing disaster resilience through collaborative efforts among member countries. The NDMA delegation engaged with various stakeholders, including the Thai Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department, to share knowledge and best practices in disaster management. They also visited the Thai Military Department of Development and Disaster Relief Training Centre to explore capacity-building initiatives.

Chairman Malik emphasized the importance of building partnerships with donors and financial institutions to secure resources for climate resilience projects. He proposed joint simulation exercises for search and rescue teams, aiming to strengthen collaborative efforts between Pakistan and Thailand in disaster response.
