Gilgit-Baltistan to Get World-Class Mountaineering School

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced plans to establish a premier mountaineering school in Gilgit-Baltistan, specifically in Skardu, aimed at promoting sustainable tourism and environmentally conscious mountaineering.

Romina Khurshid Alam, coordinator to the Prime Minister on climate change and environmental coordination, said that the country plans to set up a world-class mountaineering school in the northern Gilgit-Baltistan region.

This initiative seeks to equip local and international mountaineers with the necessary skills while preserving local cultures and the environment.

The school is expected to create significant employment opportunities for local communities and will involve collaboration with various governmental bodies and experts in mountaineering and environmental sustainability.
