Sindh Govt Warns 1,651 Villages at Risk Amid Flood Threat

The Sindh government has announced that due to the ongoing flood situation, 1,651 villages across 44 tehsils in the province are likely to be affected. According to data released by the Sindh Information Department, an estimated 1,638,491 people could face the impact of the floods.

In the past 24 hours, over 6,288 people have been relocated to safe areas from various districts. A total of 128,057 individuals have been affected so far in the province, prompting the establishment of 528 relief camps to provide emergency assistance.

The Health Department has set up 154 medical camps where 5,772 patients were treated within the last day. Overall, 39,576 patients have received medical care to date.

Additionally, around 370,161 livestock have been moved to safer locations. In the last 24 hours alone, 70,267 animals have been vaccinated and treated, with a total of 878,000 livestock receiving such care since the onset of flooding.

All relevant agencies remain active and coordinated in responding to potential flood impacts and delivering relief to affected communities.

A flood surge originating from Punjab is expected to enter Sindh within the next few hours. The provincial government has completed all necessary preparations. Dozens of villages have already been submerged ahead of the major flood wave.

Water levels are rapidly rising at the Guddu Barrage, submerging several surrounding villages—61,000 people and 250,000 livestock have been rescued and shifted to safety. Emergency ambulance hospitals have been established, including one at the Rohri protective embankment under the direction of Sukkur District Council Chairman Syed Kamil Haider Shah.

At Kotri Barrage, water levels continue to rise. In Kashmore, protective embankments are being reinforced with stones after classifying the Ke-Ke bund as sensitive. More areas around Ghotki have been flooded.

Sindh Agriculture Minister Muhammad Bakhsh Mehr reported ongoing strengthening of the Shikarpur bund. Rescue and medical camps have also been set up in Thatta and Sujawal by the Pakistan Navy at Shah Bandar.

The Sindh government and all departments remain on high alert as the flood threat continues, focusing on rescue, medical aid, and relief to the vulnerable population.
