Guddu and Sukkur Barrages Remain in Medium Flood

The Guddu and Sukkur Barrages on the Indus River continue to be in a “medium flood” condition according to the Flood Forecasting Division (FFD).

As of recent updates, the Guddu Barrage has outflows rising above 360,000 cusecs and Sukkur Barrage is similarly in medium flood status with flows fluctuating in the range of 260,000 to 285,000 cusecs.

Both barrages are dealing with floodwaters moving downstream as severe floods continue across Pakistan. Panjnad on the Chenab River has recorded “very high” flood levels while other barrages further upstream are also experiencing high to exceptionally high flood levels.

The situation requires round-the-clock vigilance due to the ongoing flood pressures and risks of further rainfall in upper catchments adding to river flows.

In summary, both Guddu and Sukkur barrages are currently experiencing medium flood levels, with Guddu’s water outflow recently rising over 360,000 cusecs and Sukkur facing flows near 260,000 to 280,000 cusecs, according to the latest FFD river data and flood alerts from early September 2025.

Meanwhile, Sindh Rescue 1122 teams have rescued more than 500 affected people across the province and shifted them to safe places amid the floods and rains.

In its daily update, Sindh Rescue 1122 said teams are constantly on high alert and are fully prepared for any emergency situation.
