Torrential rains in Pakistan have caused significant damage, washing away the Mahandri Bridge in Kaghan Valley and stranding numerous tourists in Mansehra District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday.
The destruction has cut off access to Naran and other areas, affecting both tourists and locals. The Kaghan Development Authority reports that 10,000-15,000 tourists are currently stranded in the area.
Local authorities are providing lodging and food without charge.
The rains have also caused flooding in other regions, damaging infrastructure, homes, and agricultural lands.
The Met Department has issued warnings of potential flooding in multiple regions of the country due to heavy rains. Areas at risk include Azad Kashmir, northeast Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Koh-e-Sulaiman, and the adjacent hills of Balochistan.
