PM Green Youth Program to Empower 268 Universities in Climate Change Fight

ISLAMABAD, Jul 25 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the importance of addressing climate change through youth empowerment. Chairing a meeting on the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, he directed the relevant authorities to prepare a comprehensive strategy for providing employment opportunities to the youth, with a focus on climate change prevention and eco-innovation.

Under the Prime Minister Green Youth Program, 268 universities across the country will be targeted for training youth on climate change prevention and eco-innovation. This initiative aims to equip the youth with the necessary skills to address the challenges of climate change and promote sustainable development.

The meeting was informed that the Preparation of National Youth Employment Policy 2024 is in final stages, which will focus on creating decent employment opportunities for the youth, including increasing the proportion of women in the workforce, with a special emphasis on climate change mitigation.

By focusing on climate change, the government aims to empower the youth to become agents of change and contribute to a sustainable future for Pakistan.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Minister of State for Information Technology & Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Chairman PM Youth Programme Rana Mashhood, Coordinator to PM Rana Ihsan Afzal and other relevant high officials.
