ISLAMABAD July 24, 2024: U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome addressed the “International Conference on Strengthening Pakistan-U.S. Relations” and highlighted the importance of climate change cooperation in the U.S.-Pakistan relationship, the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) said in a press release.
Ambassador Blome highlighted the U.S.-Pakistan Green Alliance framework, which aims to address pressing environmental challenges such as water management, climate-smart agriculture, and renewable energy. He noted that the framework is a great example of bilateral collaboration that deserves wider recognition.
The ambassador also announced the launch of a new climate-smart agriculture program to help farming families adapt and prepare the agriculture sector for a new era of sustainability and improved water management. He emphasized that going green not only mitigates climate change and environmental degradation but also offers Pakistan tremendous economic opportunity.
“Through the “Green Alliance” framework, our countries are working to address today’s most pressing challenges, especially around water management, climate-smart agriculture, and renewable energy – investments that will provide a more sustainable and resilient future for everyone,” Ambassasador said.
This summer, we are launching a new climate-smart agriculture program to help farming families adapt and prepare the agriculture sector for a new era of sustainability and improved water management, he added.
Ambassador Blome stressed the need for collaboration and innovation with partners around the world to solve the collective problem of climate change. He expressed his desire to have Pakistan as a partner in this challenge, citing tremendous potential in this area that will benefit both countries for years to come.
