HRCP, CAC Host Climate Dialogue in Karachi on July 30

KARACHI: The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) and the Climate Action Centre (CAC) are hosting a critical dialogue on the climate crisis and heat waves in Karachi on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Climate Action Centre, B-236, PECHS Block 2, Karachi.

As per media release, the recent heat wave in Karachi has resulted in a significant number of heat-related deaths, disproportionately affecting vulnerable populations. Despite government efforts, frequent power outages have hindered access to essential cooling resources, exacerbating the crisis.

The dialogue aims to raise awareness about the climate crisis, assess the preparedness of state authorities, and explore long-term strategies to mitigate the public health impact of heat waves. The event brings together experts, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss solutions to this pressing issue.
