China Reaches 25% Clean Energy Consumption: Report

China has achieved a significant milestone by reaching 25% clean energy consumption, according to a recent report. This marks a major step in the country’s efforts to transition towards sustainable energy sources and reduce its carbon footprint.

A white paper released on Thursday indicated that the share of clean energy in China’s total consumption rose from 15.5% to 26.4% over the last decade, as reported by state news agency Xinhua.

The 25% threshold reflects the combined contribution of renewable energy sources, including solar, wind, hydro, and nuclear power, to China’s overall energy consumption.

This achievement is in line with China’s ambitious goals to peak carbon emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. The government has been heavily investing in renewable energy infrastructure, supporting technological innovation, and implementing policies that encourage the adoption of cleaner energy sources across various sectors.

As the world’s largest energy consumer, China’s shift towards clean energy is expected to have a substantial impact on global efforts to combat climate change.

The country is also focusing on further increasing its renewable energy capacity and improving energy efficiency in order to continue its progress towards a greener future
