Jhamp East X-1 Well Produces 10 MMSCFD of Natural Gas
Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) on Friday announced the discovery of new oil and gas reserves in the Shah Bandar block, specifically from the Jhamp East X-1 well. This well is currently producing 10 million standard cubic feet (MMSCFD) of natural gas daily, along with over 150 barrels of condensate per day.
The Jhamp East X-1 well is part of PPL’s ongoing exploration efforts in the area, which has seen multiple successful discoveries recently. The Shah Bandar block is operated by PPL, which holds a 63% working interest, alongside its joint venture partners: Mari Petroleum Company Limited (32%), Sindh Energy Holding Company Limited (2.5%), and Government Holdings (Private) Limited (2.5%).
This discovery is expected to significantly contribute to Pakistan’s energy security by reducing reliance on imported energy sources and enhancing the country’s hydrocarbon reserves. PPL’s continuous exploration efforts are aimed at alleviating the ongoing energy crisis and saving foreign exchange through increased indigenous production.
