QUETTA, Dec 28: In a significant move to bolster the agricultural sector, the Balochistan provincial government has launched the Benazir Kisan Card scheme, aimed at providing crucial financial support to small farmers across the region.
The initiative, announced by Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, seeks to enhance agricultural productivity by offering subsidies for essential inputs such as fertilizers, seeds, and agricultural equipment. The scheme is designed to alleviate the financial burden on small farmers, enabling them to access the resources necessary for improving their crop yields and overall farming practices.
Under this initiative, the provincial government will initially fund the subsidies, with plans for future support from the federal government to expand its impact.
Chief Minister Bugti emphasized the importance of empowering farmers, stating that this scheme is a vital step towards ensuring food security and economic stability in Balochistan. By facilitating access to agricultural inputs, the Benazir Kisan Card aims to uplift the livelihoods of small-scale farmers who play a critical role in the province’s economy.
As part of its implementation strategy, the government is expected to roll out awareness campaigns to inform farmers about how to apply for and benefit from the scheme. This initiative reflects a broader commitment to fostering agricultural development in Balochistan and supporting those who are essential to the region’s food production and sustainability efforts.
