Karachi Records Coldest Night of the Season

KARACHI, DECEMBER 28: Karachi experienced its coldest night of the season on Friday night, with temperatures dropping to an unexpected low. Residents reported a significant chill in the air, prompting many to bundle up and seek warmth.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department noted that the temperature fell to around 8 degrees Celsius, marking a stark contrast to the typically mild winter weather the city is known for.

The lowest night-time temperature from Karachi was recorded in Gulistan-e-Johar, where the mercury dropped as low as 6.5°C at one point.

This cold wave stands out as a significant weather event for Karachi, with temperatures reaching lows unseen in recent years, underscoring the effects of seasonal shifts on urban areas.

  • Lowest Recorded Temperature: 8.5°C at Jinnah Terminal.
  • Other Areas:
    • Gulistan-e-Jauhar: 10.5°C
    • Shahrah-e-Faisal: 11.5°C
    • Mauri Pur: 12.5°C
    • Bin Qasim: 9.7°C

The PMD predicts that nighttime temperatures will remain between 9-12°C in the coming days in Karachi.
