The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has committed $3 million in urgent aid to support communities impacted by devastating floods in Pakistan.
During a visit to the Ravi River in Lahore, ADB President Masatsugu Kanda expressed solidarity with flood victims and approved the emergency grant to facilitate relief efforts.
The visit also included high-level discussions with Pakistan’s leadership, focusing on investment opportunities, economic reforms, and ongoing projects in infrastructure, energy, and social development sectors.
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) announced that its president, Masatsugu Kanda, who is on a three-day visit to Pakistan, visited the Ravi River in Lahore to assess the flood situation. During the visit, he approved an emergency grant to support affected communities.
Kanda stated, “Pakistan is enduring a devastating flood that has displaced thousands of families and communities. In times like these, ADB stands firmly with Pakistan. Whenever natural disasters occur, we respond quickly to help impacted communities rebuild with dignity.”
On Friday, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif held a meeting with President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Masato Kanda, who is on his first visit to Pakistan.
The ADB chief was accompanied by an eight-member delegation, including Chief Advisor Keiichiro Inoue, Senior Advisor John Johan Jeong, Executive Director Noor Ahmed, Director General Leah C. Gutierrez, Country Director Emafene, DDG Cathy Marsh and others.
