Baku Water Week 2025, held from September 10-12 at the Baku Expo Center, emerged as a pivotal global forum addressing water security and climate-related challenges.
The event united more than 60 companies and delegations from over a dozen countries, highlighting Azerbaijan’s commitment to sustainable water management amid escalating climate threats.
This year’s conference featured over 40 expert speakers discussing themes such as water governance, infrastructure digitalization, innovative management of alternative water resources, and transboundary water diplomacy.
Azerbaijan showcased its strategic initiatives, including modernization of irrigation systems, construction of reservoirs, and pioneering desalination projects targeting Caspian Sea water, slated to start pilot operations in 2026.
The exhibition presented cutting-edge technologies ranging from cloud seeding and flood protection to AI-driven water management, emphasizing efficiency and sustainability. Baku Water Week also fostered cross-border cooperation, with government and private sector participants exploring partnerships to tackle freshwater scarcity.
Pilot projects announced include research into artificial rain technologies, restoration of traditional water networks, and coastal protective infrastructure through 2027.
This comprehensive approach positions Azerbaijan as a regional leader in addressing water scarcity amid global climate impacts.
Baku Water Week 2025 not only advanced the exchange of best practices and innovations but reinforced the critical role of water resource management in global climate action agendas, especially leading up to COP29.
