Climate activists glued themselves to the runway at Cologne-Bonn Airport

Climate activists from the “Last Generation” group glued themselves to the runway at Cologne Bonn Airport, Germany, causing flights to be grounded temporarily on Wednesday.

This protest is part of a larger Europe-wide action aimed at urging governments to take stronger measures against climate change.

As reported, the police were called to handle the situation, and the airport resumed operations after a brief disruption.

A statement from the airport authorities said: “The police operation at Cologne/Bonn Airport is over. Flight operations have resumed. Disruptions in the form of delays and flight cancellations are to be expected during the day.”

According to the Police, five people glued themselves to a taxiway at the airport early this morning and officers were trying to dislodge them, German news agency dpa reported.

By 8.30 am local time, two of them had been removed.
