The Flood Forecasting Division (FFD) on Thursday predicted medium to high flood in rivers Jhelum, Kabul, Ravi, Indus and Chenab catchments between Friday to Monday while medium to high flood (flash flooding) is also expected in hill torrents of D G Khan Division (Punjab) and nullahs of Zhob, Sibbi, Nasirabad and Kalat Divisions (Balochistan).
According to the latest reports from the Pakistan Meteorological Department, heavy monsoon rains are likely to cause these major rivers to run furious, posing a serious threat to nearby communities.
Meteorological officials predict that the increased water levels could lead to flooding in several regions, affecting both urban and rural areas.
