ISLAMABAD: Coordinator to Prime Minister on Climate Change Romina Khurshid Alam chaired the first meeting of the Prime Minister’s Committee on COP29, emphasizing the need for a concrete plan to showcase Pakistan’s resilience-building initiatives.

As per The News report, the meeting held on July 29, 2024 focused on preparations for the upcoming UN-led global climate summit, COP29, scheduled for November 11-22 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Alam urged participants to highlight Pakistan’s finance, technology, and capacity-building needs to strengthen resilience against climate risks. She noted that Pakistan is among the countries most affected by climate change, facing challenges like flooding, heatwaves, and shifting monsoon patterns.
