PM directs to form committee to reactivate Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday directed the formation of a committee to reactivate the Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project.

This move likely aims to address any issues or delays that have hampered the project’s progress and ensure its timely completion and operation.

The Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project is a significant undertaking for the region, aimed at generating hydroelectric power by harnessing the water flow from the Neelum River.

Reactivating this project could have substantial benefits for energy production and economic development in the area.

The prime minister chaired a meeting to review the progress of the Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower project at the PM House in Islamabad.

Defects in the Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project in 2021 are also being made part of the investigation report, the meeting was informed adding that power generation was suspended in 2022 due to a fault in the tailrace tunnel of the project, Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported.
