Large parts of Punjab have been submerged by devastating floods, with rescue and relief operations underway in Muzaffargarh and Alipur under the supervision of the Punjab government.
The powerful water currents are now moving rapidly into Sindh, putting immense pressure on Kotri, Guddu, and Sukkur barrages.
Several riverine (Katcha) villages have already been inundated, while mass evacuations to safer locations continue.
As reported, the threat of a major flood looms over Sindh as water levels at the Sukkur Barrage continue to rise. Vast areas of Katcha land have turned into water reservoirs, with Kotri Barrage witnessing an aggressive surge of the Indus River. Regions including Manjhand and Aliabad are underwater, with standing crops completely destroyed — leaving farmers devastated.
Tragedy struck near Manjhand, where a young man drowned while bathing in the floodwaters.
In Kashmore, flood torrents from the Indus River struck protective embankments at Guddu Barrage, causing flood-like conditions across Ghotki. After battering the Qadirpur Shank Bund, waters have now reached the Ronnti protection dyke, forcing residents to flee to safety.
In Sehwan, floodwaters swept away houses, crops, and cattle pens. Villagers are wading through waist-deep water to reach safer grounds, while livestock such as buffaloes and cows remain trapped in submerged fields. Children are paying boat fares just to reach schools.
In Thatta, rising water levels in the Indus River have submerged vast areas, displacing families along with their livestock. Many now live under the open sky as boats are being used to evacuate people to safer zones.
