Peshawar is set to host a high-profile charity T20 cricket match aimed at raising funds for flood-affected communities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other impacted regions.
The match, featuring national cricket legends Shahid Afridi and Younis Khan alongside other former and current players, will take place at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium. Proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorships will be donated to the provincial government for flood relief efforts.
As reported, a high-level meeting chaired by Provincial Sports Minister Syed Fakhar Jehan finalized arrangements for the event, including security measures, ticket sales strategy, and plans to involve artists and celebrities to enhance public participation and entertainment. The initiative seeks to generate substantial funds and awareness in support of those devastated by recent floods that have claimed hundreds of lives and caused widespread damage across the province.
This charity match comes alongside ongoing humanitarian efforts by Afridi, who recently visited flood-hit areas with his foundation to distribute relief supplies and express solidarity with survivors.
The government continues to prepare for more monsoon rains expected to exacerbate the situation.
