Sindh Govt Evacuates 94,000 from Riverine Areas Amid Super Flood Threat

The Sindh government has evacuated approximately 94,000 people from riverine (katcha) areas in the past 24 hours as part of ongoing flood response efforts.

This evacuation is aimed at protecting lives amid the threat of a super flood caused by rising water levels in major rivers flowing into Sindh.

The government has prioritized human life safety, reinforced embankments, and coordinated with Pakistan Army, Rangers, and disaster agencies for rescue and relief operations.

The water level in the Indus River has dropped slightly, offering temporary relief, but a large flood surge from Punjab is expected within the next 24 hours, keeping the threat level high.

Evacuation plans and relief camps with food, clean water, and healthcare facilities are in place to support the displaced population.

On the other hand, The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Thursday warned that the monsoon rains, ranging from moderate to heavy intensity, will continue until mid-September.

NDMA official warned that the southern regions of Pakistan, including Punjab and Sindh, as well as some parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, are at heightened risk due to ongoing rainfall and potential flooding.
